The best dating journal apps for iPhone
The best dating journal app for iPhone depends on what you want it for. As of 26 October 2026, Revoir and Log are the only apps here whose App Store privacy labels say Data Not Collected, and Clara for Daters has the most ratings. If you want something free that’s already on your phone, a locked note in Apple Notes covers the basics.
Fond publishes this guide, and we make an app in this category. So we’ve listed it last and marked it clearly.
How we checked
On 26 October 2026 we looked up every app below with Apple’s public App Store search, in both the Australian and US stores. Each description comes from the app’s own App Store listing, and so does each privacy label. Apps we couldn’t find in the store were left out, including some that have been removed. Rating counts change often, so treat them as a snapshot.

Seven dating journal apps, compared
Revoir: Dating Journal
Good for: private reflection, with AI that stays on your phone.
You log each date with who you met, where you went and how you felt, including mood check-ins before, during and after. Once you’ve logged enough dates, Revoir points out patterns. Its AI chat, Mira, runs on Apple’s on-device models, so it needs an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence. The listing says there’s no account, no cloud sync and no ads, and the app is protected by Face ID. The free version shows part of each insight and your last 30 days; Premium unlocks the rest. Needs iOS 18 or later.
Log: Private Dating Journal
Good for: a detailed log for each person, if you like stats.
Each person gets a log with photos, green and red flags, stories and every date you’ve had together, plus a calendar and a map. The listing says everything is stored on the device behind Face ID, and the only thing it sends anywhere is a city name, to place a pin on the map. It leans into rating categories, stats and comparing two people head to head, which won’t suit everyone. The free version covers 3 logs, and Pro is a one-time purchase that adds encrypted backup and export.
Clara for Daters
Good for: structured reflection after each date.
Clara calls itself a gamified relationship management tool. You answer reflection questions designed by psychologists, and it rates the people you’re seeing to keep you organised. You also get a Clara Card you can share. The listing says it’s free to download, with premium features possibly coming later. Its privacy label lists usage data, used for analytics and not linked to you.
Heartlog: Dating Journal
Good for: a journal with a built-in AI companion.
Heartlog brings together profiles for the people you’re seeing, a calendar for dates, reflections, photos and daily journaling. Its AI assistant, Amie, can refer to your recent dates and entries when it makes suggestions, and the listing says you can turn Amie off in Settings. There’s a separate mode for when you’re in a committed relationship. Its privacy label lists purchases, contact info, user content, identifiers, usage data and diagnostics as linked to you.
Date Tracker: Dating Journal
Good for: learning from each date.
You log each date with how you felt and what you learned, reflect on the texting in between and look back at why connections ended. The app was created by Talia Koren, host of the Dating Intentionally podcast, according to its listing. Its privacy label lists contact info, user content, usage data and diagnostics as linked to you.
Matchbook: Dating Journal
Good for: a spreadsheet-style journal without the spreadsheet.
Matchbook describes itself as a modern dating spreadsheet. You create a profile for each person and add a chapter for each date. The listing says your data stays on your device, and Face ID locks the journal. Matchbook Pro adds voice notes, stats, and iCloud backup with import and export. Its privacy label lists purchases, user content, identifiers, usage data and diagnostics, none linked to you.
LoveMemo!!
Good for: remembering each conversation before you reply.
This is the closest to a notes app in this roundup. You keep a memo for each person with their name, age, the app you met on and your notes, plus feeling tags, notes for your next conversation, plans and past dates. You can lock it with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode. The listing says it doesn’t scrape or connect to dating apps and doesn’t send automatic replies. Its privacy label lists user content, including photos, as linked to you, for app functionality.
Free options you already have
Apple Notes with a locked note
Notes is free and already on your iPhone. Keep one note per person, then lock it with your device passcode and open it with Face ID. Two things to know: the title of a locked note stays visible in the list, and Apple won’t lock notes that contain PDFs, video, audio or file attachments.
A spreadsheet
Our free dating spreadsheet template has columns for name, app, where they live, work, kids, pets, likes, dislikes, plans, the next question to ask, when you last talked, status and notes. It opens in Numbers, Excel or Google Sheets. Keep the file somewhere private. There’s more in our guide to the dating spreadsheet template.
Our Who am I talking to? board
The Who am I talking to? board is a free page with one card per person: where they live, what they do, their pets, what they love and what to ask next time. It saves in your browser only, nothing is uploaded, and it exports a spreadsheet. Clearing your browser data clears the board, so export a copy now and then.
How do you choose?
- Decide what you want to remember. For what they tell you, try LoveMemo!!, a locked note or the board. For how dates make you feel, try Revoir, Date Tracker or Clara.
- Read the privacy label. Data Not Collected means the developer says the app collects nothing. Data Linked to You means some data is tied to your identity.
- Check the lock. Four of the seven listings mention Face ID, and a locked note uses it too. The board relies on your browser, so keep that private.
- Think about backups. Log Pro offers encrypted backup and export, and Matchbook Pro offers iCloud backup.
- Picture them reading it. Some apps rate or compare people. If that would feel unkind to the person, choose one that doesn’t. Here’s more on whether it’s weird to keep notes on dates.
Where Fond fits (we make it)
Fond is the app we make, so we’ve left it out of the table to keep the comparison fair. You screenshot a dating-app chat or profile and share it to Fond. It reads the screenshot on your iPhone, works out who said what, and adds what they told you to a private note: likes, dislikes, work, family, pets, plans and things to ask next time. Every fact links back to its screenshot. There’s no account and no servers, notes are locked with Face ID, and it’s free for your first three matches. Get Fond on the App Store.
